The ground
Built on the world's largest open-cast tin mine.
The mine closed in 1982. Robert Trent Jones Jr. routed eighteen holes across what was left of it and opened the course in 1994. The back nine plays along the mine lake — the reason the closing stretch has decided so many tournaments here, from the World Cup of Golf to Asian Tour and US PGA Tour events.
